How much will my move cost?

We hear this question before any information is provided to formulate a budget, though expected to be an easy answer, these are the variables that dictate pricing.

A move can cost anywhere from $1,500 to $25,000. It depends on how many employees are moving, what type of furniture is involved, how far from point A to point B, what time of day can the move be done, what services are required to be included, how many vendors are involved and the property management fees at both locations (if any). Some rough figures are:

$90 to $150 per employee for a content move (IT and boxes of files)

$225 to $290 per office suite

$250-$375 per workstation

These figures will fluctuate if the move is within or outside the building, if there is data and electrical connections within the stations, if the stations are connected to each other, if the office suites are one desk with a runoff or include a credenza and overhead with storage mounted to the wall, if the IT is single, double or triple monitors on stands or monitor arms... the options are endless.

Then comes the question of; what about the inventory and racking in the storage rooms, what about the appliances and glassware in the kitchen, what about the IT room full of server equipment, what about the photocopiers and desk top printers or mailing machines, what about the decals on the walls and signage in reception, what about the coffee and water supplies that are delivered... the sliding scale for pricing moves depends on the requirements during a move. Clients can expect to pay under $100 per employee to move contents and computers or $350 per employee to relocate contents, computers, workstations, storage rooms, meeting rooms, offices, filing and storage cabinets.

The most expensive part of the move is always the moving company. We experience first hand companies often hiring the cheapest movers they can find. That's a big mistake since they are responsible for handling your equipment and setting up at the new space on time for your company to be up and running without a glitch for your employees Monday morning.

Putting together a request for proposal, sending it to quality companies in the moving industry and negotiating to get competitive pricing can be handled by Move MGMT. We have been working with a variety of move teams and vendors for 25 years we trust for the success of a relocation, professional mentality and work ethic you will not see on a website or google reviews.
