Typically, with a corporate relocation, there is one person left in charge to oversee an office move and that is a lot to expect of one person. The planning and scheduling is time consuming and constantly changing with each curve ball thrown at you, so there is always more going on than just the move and that one person may not be well versed in dealing with movers. Usually, an executive assistant or facilities manager will be given the responsibility of hiring the mover and internally planning the move, which is unfathomable to expect a person without experience in this specific type of business to know if their plan will work without monetary consequences.
